Value Systems - MultiPerm announced WINNER OF 2001 Papex AWARD FOR INNOVATION AT GLITTERING INDUSTRY GALA DINNER

The 2001 Papex Awards were presented by Angela Rippon at a gala dinner held Tuesday 2nd October 2001 in the Palace Hotel, Manchester, United Kingdom to an audience of over 350 people from the pulp and paper industry.

The high quality of entries for the Awards provided the adjudicators* with the usual challenge, but in the end, there was a ready consensus about who the winners should be. There were also some hard decisions to be made, as at all times the judges* were conscious of maintaining the technical credibility of the Awards.

The Award for Product Innovation by Suppliers with less than 50 Employees, sponsored by Paper Industry Technical Association (PITA) was awarded to Value Systems for its MultiPerm on-line porosity measurement system.

The ability to measure sheet porosity on-line has been around for quite a few years, but many such on-line porosity systems have been discarded due to doubts about measurement accuracy and the need to reject a large proportion of the readings. Very few systems have therefore been used for closed loop control. The development of improved sheet sensor contacting technology by one of the entrants in this category has greatly reduced the number of readings that need to be ignored and allowed closed loop control to become a reality and to be clearly demonstrated. The 2001 Papex Award for Product Innovation for Supplier Companies with less than 50 employees therefore, was awarded to Value Systems for their MultiPerm on-line Porosity Measurement System.
